Val was born in Hollywood in Northern Ireland. In 1981 she married Keith Marsden They lived for a number of years in Birkenshaw, not far from Keith's home in Morley. Val lives in Mountain just outside of Bradford where she moved with Keith shortly before his death. Val is a keen dancer and is a member of "Persephone" - Bradford Womens' Morris. Their yellow and green dresses are often seen at festivals around the country. Val's voice provides a strong harmony line and with Graham complements the lead voice provided by John.
